4 issue test #28 - Spider-man

This is probably the best of these variant covers, although who thought putting the word Miles over the image made it look any better?
Miles Morales is in the main Marvel Universe! They collected a lot of his stuff in trades recently and I’ve found them highly enjoyable. Will the latest in the line of Brian Michael Bendis’ books impress or should he have stayed in the now defunct Ultimate Universe? Let’s take a look.

The Flash season 2 finale review (episodes 21-22) - Invincible/The Race of his Life

So, I've been fundamentally disappointed with this season of the Flash, will it pull out all the stops for its finale? Has any show been disappointing for 20 episodes and had a good finale? Let's just dive in

Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 Finale (Episodes 14-16)

We've come to the end of the Legends of Tomorrow. It's been a shaky start but things are moving into high gear, will these episodes all work on the same merits? Let's take a look

#34 Fant4stic (Rage Issues 2 year anniversary)

It's Rage Issues' 2nd year anniversary!!!

And yeah, it’s been a while now, our last rage review was in January and you can blame Marvel for the onslaught of new comics I’ve been picking up and just the fact there’s TV to review. Last year I looked at something that came under an umbrella of things I’d been reviewing – the Avatar franchise had been one of biggest investments to review.

This year, we’re not doing that. This year, we’re looking at a movie so bad, so terrible that Rotten Tomatoes gives it a mere 9% rating. So bad that the director, Josh Trank tweeted out that there was a better version of the film, but the studio messed with his vision.

Sh*t. Yep, we’re back in studio interference territory. (And yes, it's sort of a continuation since I've reviewed the other 2 - see the hub page - link below) As Josh Trank, in a move that will likely kill his career for all time, if the movie didn’t already, tweeted that he had a better version before the studio touched it. Truth? Well, I’ve heard some disturbing stories about his behaviour on-set which indicate otherwise but let’s give the movie a chance. And by that I mean let’s rip this piece of sh*t a new one!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 Finale review (episodes 20-22)

We've reached the final episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and whilst I have mixed feelings about the back half of the season, S.H.I.E.L.D. has always delivered a good finale, will it continue to form in this season? Let's take a look

The Flash Season 2 Episodes 19-21 review

TV Shows are working towards their finales, and this is the penultimate time we look at the Flash (with this season's quality, it may well be for good)

4 issue Test #27 - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

So, S.H.I.E.L.D. concluded with #12 and a couple of problems notwithstanding (particularly with the S.H.I.E.L.D. anniversary issue) it was a great run by a great writer, Mark Waid (and I’ll admit the last 2 issues of ANAD Avengers are improvements over the first 6 issues – although I’m still considering dropping the title)

So, with Mark Waid no longer on the title we have Marc Guggenheim who is one of the big guys on the CWTV universe. So we have him partly to thank for the bullsh*t Arrow has been through of late. Also, can you not see the irony of having a DC TV producer working on the tie-in comic for its major competitor?

Anyway, let’s dig into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. #1-4 and find out what’s going on

TV Retrospective: Young Justice episodes 1-5

It’s been a while, what with me reducing the number of reviews I do on a weekly basis and the mass of comics I’ve had to review (that isn’t stopping by the way, I’ll be covering DC’s rebirth post-hiatus) but it’s time once again for a Television Retrospective

It’s time to look at Young Justice, the DC version of Avengers: Earth’s mightiest heroes. An ever-evolving team in a place where a wider universe exists. Based on the comic, but only loosely since it only stars one of the core cast of the comic. Young Justice has received a lot of praise and fans have begging producer Greg Weisman for season since its cancellation, for the record his response is always #notuptome, so you can stop asking now, it’s bugging up my Twitter feed.

Young Justice never came out in a Pal-2 format for UK viewing. I’m considering doing a #WTFU video (is this still a thing, I’m writing this in February people) about what studios can look toward doing to prevent their works suffering copyright infringement, but I digress, that’s for another day. For now, let’s dig into my American copies of Young Justice

Civil War review

Civil war is arguably the most controversial of the Marvel events and it covers a lot of political themes. In some ways it’s baffling that this is the kind of story they’re adapting into the newest movie. Especially since secret identities have barely been established as a thing yet (outside of the Netflix's Daredevil which isn’t likely to cross into the movies) but given that the movie is adapting the comic, and that there’s supposedly a sequel coming out (because lord knows the idea of a mass brawl between heroes hasn’t been run into the ground by Marvel yet) I decided to get a copy.

Because of the very political nature of this book, it’s often avoided in detail by reviewers, but… I’m going to cover this in as neutral a way as possible. I will not egg on either side for their decisions, so this review may not be as funny as some of my others, my apologies for that

This is neither a Rage review, nor a Guilty Pleasure review. In as many words my opinion of this comic is that it’s ok. I want to break down the story, giving as much detail as possible. In the end, if you haven’t read Civil War, you can make up your own mind which side was right in their actions.

There's also not going to be an overall rating of the comic, I have certain preconceptions that mean it's difficult for me to judge, and since most of my knowledge of Marvel comics does not predate this event, I don't think I'm much qualified to have a final say. What I do know is as of this point Thor was dead and Planet Hulk was happening, so those 2, arguably the two most powerful participants were off the table.

Note: I am only recently a Marvel fan, there will be characters in this that I do not know, so apologies in advance if I get some of their names wrong.

Also, just in case I wasn’t clear: SPOILERS!
