#55 Antboy: Revenge of the Red Fury

Back in 2015 I reviewed the Danish super-hero film Antboy: a truly awful Superhero movie featuring unlikable protagonists, a growly villain, exceptionally slow pacing and reference to much better stories I could’ve been reading instead. I said at the time I wasn’t going to review the sequel but… I’m reviewing the sequel. Hey, we don’t have to worry about the origin now, maybe it can be better, right…

Sequel Baiting #6 - Charlie's Angels vs Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

Time for something for little less serious. There have been hundreds of takes on the spy genre, but none scream girl power quite like Charlie’s Angels. Based on the 80s TV show, Charlie’s Angels followed 3 sexy spies doing missions for their faceless man known as Charlie. I’ve not seen the show, but I’ve seen the movies… Oh, have I seen the movies. Although the show was ultimately cancelled due to low ratings, Charlie’s Angels has gained a bit of a cult following, can’t imagine why *cough*boobs*cough* spawning the creation of Charlie’s Angels in 2000 and Full Throttle in 2003. (Also a 2011 revival series and a 2019 remake *sigh*) critically and commercially, the first comes out on top, but we’re not here to look at what other people think.

Mini Review - Deadpool

Time for a series of mini reviews that may not make the light of day until September. Happy September if that is the case. But let’s talk about the Merc with the mouth, Deadpool. At time of writing, which is in November 2017, a teaser trailer for Deadpool 2 has just released, and it’s funny as hell.

Netflix Retrospective: Daredevil Season 2 Episodes 1-2 - Bang/Dogs to a gunfight

It's 2018, time to revive Netflix Retrospectives

Through 2018 I’ll be doing frequent retrospectives on Netflix shows, I’m gonna put a 1-year cut-off date on it to make sure you have time to see it before going into this, because it will involve spoilers as I give a rundown of the plot. Let’s start off with the sequel to the Marvel Netflix original series, this is season 2 of Daredevil.

Mini Review: Doctor Who - Twice Upon a Time

So, it’s that time of year again, it’s been about a month since the Doctor Who special graced our screens and my review of it was inevitable. What might surprise you is this being a mini review and I do have a reason beyond being lazy, although that might factor in a bit.

But this is a very special Christmas special, not only have we got a crossover with the first doctor, not only is it Capaldi’s regeneration story, but it’s also a goodbye to Stephen Moffat as he bows out of Doctor Who. Does this hold up to those very high standards? Here are my thoughts

#54 Doctor Who - Love and Monsters

So, it’s that time of year again, time to talk about a bad episode of Doctor Who

Russel T Davies ran the show from its revival in 2005 until 2010, where Steven Moffat took over, until now I’ve not covered bad episodes from this era, they’re usually more infamous than the bad Moffat ones, also Russel T Davies is the man who got me into Doctor Who, even with one of the worst episodes of the show, Fear Her.

But that’s not the episode that I’m covering today, today it’s a special kind of bad. The kind of bad I hate beyond all others that, to his credit, Mofatt never did in his tenure. We’ve got a fan allegory! Beyond that, Love and Monsters is one of the most hated episodes of the show. There’s also something else but we’ll get to that in the review. Speaking of which…

#53 Superman IV - The Quest for Peace

I honestly didn’t know which format to use for this one.

I do not like Superman 3, I hope my review during the summer made that clear. I don’t like its overly comedic tone, it’s boring villains, Gus, just generally Gus and the complete waste of any potential in Smallville. Still, it was successful enough to get another sequel, although the changes are much bigger this time.

Let’s start off with the budget, a significant slash from Superman III, that’s because allegedly Golan Globulus, the studio behind the movie, took investor’s money and invested it in other projects. Either way, this movie had a budget of only $17m and boy does that show, but that’s getting ahead of ourselves. Despite the low budget, the film was a financial failure and the entire franchise was put on the back burner until Superman Returns in the 2000s (I'll cover that one eventually, but given recent allegations against Kevin Spacey, it'll be a while).

This is regarded as not just the worst Superman movie, but one of the worst movies ever made, so why am I conflicted? Let’s take a closer look at hahahahahahahahahahahahaha sorry, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
