#60 - Secret Empire (part 1)

You may remember a while back, I covered Steve Rogers: Captain America. Written by Nick Spencer, it featured a revelation: that in bringing Cap back from being aged, the cosmic cube (Kobik) messed with reality and made him HYDRA, thinking that was for the best or something. I dropped the book after 4 issues because of its pacing, which was far too slow for my liking, but then we come to what it was all building up to, Secret Empire

Secret Empire was not a smash for Marvel sales wise with numbers dropping well below what is normal for an event comic. Why is that? Well, I’m not covering 13 issues in 1 go, especially when it’s of this sh*t, so I’ll be doing it in 3 parts making this my first and hopefully only multi-part review. Let’s take a look at Secret Empire

We’ll be looking at #0, the Free Comic Book day issue, and #1-3

#25 Secret Agent Clank

Why do I always seem to be 5 out? Anyway this our 205th review

What, no banner? Oh...

Those of you who have followed me since my first review know that I love Ratchet and Clank, I love their colourful environments, inventive weaponry, creative storytelling and the overall fun you get out of playing them.

But like with every good franchise, there’s a black sheep in the family and that comes in the form of a title called Secret Agent Clank.

So, what’s history behind this infamous title? Sony, the owner of the rights to Ratchet and Clank wanted a Ratchet title for their fledgling console, the PSVita, however Insomniac Games, the usual Ratchet and Clank developers were busy working on the Ratchet and Resistance titles for the PS3. So the job was given to a company called High Impact Games. The company was made up of former employees of Insomniac Games so it would seem like the ideal company to make such a game, and they did with Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters. It was a fun game in single player and also had a decent multiplayer mode but they had a second Ratchet and Clank title in the works.

Secret Agent Clank was released in 2008 to a decent, if slightly more mixed  reaction. So why do I hate it? Let’s take a closer look.

Guilty Pleasures #7 - Daredevil

I don’t have too much to rage at at the moment, but let’s take a look at another film that I don’t think is as bad as critics have often thought it was, Daredevil

It’s another Guilty Pleasure from Marvel Comics, specifically this time it’s Fox division. I don't know much about the comics this is based upon, but what I do know is that the modern day Daredevil is a dark and gritty saga defined by writer Frank Miller. (Yeah, this is before everything he wrote turned to sh*t)

It was popular enough for a movie to be brought out in 2003, earning a 5.3 on Idmb, a 45% rotten tomatoes rating, and while it was profitable, it made less than $200 million, the budget for a modern day Superhero movie.

So, let's dig into the movie, and see exactly what went right, and what went wrong.
