Why I love Arthur Christmas

Christmas is almost upon us and it’s time to finally look at a Christmas special, as we do every year, but because I’m busy around the holidays, I’m only doing a short piece on this one. This may essentially end up being a repeat of the Nostalgia Critic Editorial on it, but I want to say I love this movie so much… Arthur Christmas

A team-up between Sony Animation: the studio that brought you The Emoji Movie and you know, this abomination

And Aardman most known for stop-motion stuff like Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run, this movie came out in 2012 to a positive critical reception but rather low box office figures, only $142m on a $100m budget, it’s quite possible this movie lost money at the box office.

But I think it really is good enough to be considered a classic, here’s why

Editorial - My thoughts on Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 3

Just a heads up, this is probably the last of these editorials I’ll be doing for Voltron, I’m going to be doing full on retrospectives on a lot of Netflix stuff come the New Year, and of course Voltron is on my list. I may do a s4 but I don’t have it locked in and it may be a while since I’m basically locked in until April at this point. Yes, I do a lot in advance. But since I’m not going to be doing Voltron until the summer anyway, here are my thoughts.

Because of reasons Netflix decided to split the 13 episodes that would've been season 3 into 2 smaller seasons, one of which premiered in August which I’m covering now, and one which will be coming out the day after this review.

Series 10 of Doctor Who was probably the strongest series of the show to date in my opinion and a great Swan Song for Steven Moffat's final season. Sequel Month - Editorial - What makes a good sequel?

Yeah, I know this was supposed to be a Doctor Who review but I was kinda busy so I'm just chucking something together to get something out in the morning

And whilst the Nostalgia Critic asked why sequels are bad, I'm going to go against type and ask a different question, what makes a sequel good? Because this is rushed, I'm going to talk mostly about this in general rather than referring to lots of examples.

And it's time to look at a thorny issue with time travel, Paradoxes. Does a paradox in itself spoil the plot? Not usually but when a movie is careful with its time travel rules, it's often quite jarring to see them disregard them. I'm going to looking at examples across the board, not necessarily just things I've reviewed and see where they stack up. Spoilers ahead folks

Editorial - My thoughts so far on Wabbit: A Looney Tunes production

So, The Looney Tunes show was an attempt to write the Looney Tunes in a suburban, almost sitcom-esque setting. The animated factor allowed them to incorporate more ludicrous scenarios you couldn't have in a regular sitcom. The humour was hit and miss to say the least, some jokes worked and some jokes just left you groaning.

The argument is clear that a lot of characters felt overly-domesticated. Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck living in a house, Speedy running a Pizza place, Taz being a pet, Gossamer being a regular kid who just looks like a monster, Elmer being a weather reporter and so on and so forth. In short, the classic feel of the Looney Tunes felt lost. But if you look past those there are some classic dynamics, Tweety and Sylvester are largely unharmed and the Wile E Coyote and Road Runner shorts, whilst not brilliant, at all, at least tried to capture the old feel.

The show ended after 2 seasons and out came a TV movie called Rabbit's Run. I'm still considering a review of this sh*tpile. In my opinion it encompasses the worst of the Looney Tunes show.

Wabbit: A Looney Tunes production was intended to create something more akin to a classic Looney Tunes short. The run-time was cut, each short being 5 minutes and paired up to create an 11-minute episode. But did it work? Here are my thoughts.

Editorial: 5 things I want to see in Batman and Robin Eternal

Batman Eternal; I did a 4 issue test on the series in January (despite the fact the 4th issue came out in April the year before, before I even started this blog) it was a good story but it's focus on the plot and big reveals whilst character work was limited to only Batman, Julia Pennyworth, Spoiler and Jim Gordon (with a few sprinkles for Batgirl and the Red Hood) preventing me from calling it a great story. Next month, a new series of Batman Eternal is coming out, titled Batman and Robin: Eternal focusing more on the family of Batman than Batman (who is now Jim Gordon in a stupid robot bat-suit)

So, what needs to happen in this 6-month weekly series to improve upon it's predecessor, here are my 5 suggestions
