4 issue test #39 - Teen Titans (DC Rebirth)

Yes, I know it's another cheat but they use the same logo and this review's late already

It’s DC Rebirth Time again!

I’d previously reviewed a Teen Titans book, it was one of my earliest reviews of this format. It… wasn’t great really, I did drop the book after the 4th issue and even though a couple of ideas tossed did gain my attention, it was never really enough to bring me back in.

But DC Rebirth has shone a new light on the Titans with a new creative team and a new roster. In the writer’s chair is Ben Percy, who is also tackling the Green Arrow books and with artists… well, there are quite a few of them. The roster, I’ll cover in the description since the first issue is primarily about getting everyone together. Speaking of which, let’s get to it.

#41 Captain Sabertooth and the Treasure of Lama Rama

Remember Dazzler? I do. They’re the distributor who gave us Antboy, the terribly dubbed awfully acted piece of sh*t that stands in my top 10 least favourite things I’ve done a Rage Review on (guess the top 2, go on, it’s not that hard) anyway, I’m doing another review of a movie from that studio… fun times…

Captain Sabertooth is apparently a thing in Norway, with books, stage-plays, theme park attractions and a TV series. Here we have a movie adaptation badly dubbed into English. Yay… Because this is Dazzler media, I have to mention something about cost, this is the most expensive Norwegian kids movie ever made.

Released in 2014 during the massive hiatus of Pirates of the Caribbean due to their various production issues. The film gathered a mixed reception to say the least, it has a 5.7 rating on IMDb and a 0% audience approval rating on rotten tomatoes, although that’s based on just 5 ratings, compared to IMDb’s 406. But let’s see if this movie delivers the swashbuckling action I’d look for in a pirate movie.

Spoilers: No, it doesn’t.

Further Thoughts on Teen Titans Go! - Let's Get Serious

On Wednesday, a crossover review with me and Gregs Chan1 appeared on YouTube.

My apologies that the audio quality is terrible, and note that it's completely improvised and the only editing I could do was for the credits.

I plan to spend this completely improvised blogpost explaining further why I'm not a fan of Teen Titans Go! and this episode particularly

4 issue test #2 - Teen Titans (DCYou)

I love the Teen Titans, before the New 52, before Felecia D Henderson ruined just about everything just for JT Krul to a decent job at reviving it from the brink but then came the New 52. I read the first few issues of the new 52 Teen Titans, I currently own the first vol trade, which is OK and the culling, which is a confusing messy piece of sh*t (maybe another time but Linkara covered it fairly well) and of course of the worst thing ever to happen to Tim Drake, issue 0. At this point, I gave up on Lobdell’s area of comics (Titans and Superboy and there was no way in hell I was picking up his Superman book) but the book was cancelled and then rebooted with a new team on board. So, I figured I’d take a look.

Taking the helm of Teen Titans is Will Pfeifer. His works include Amazons Attack, a story that despite the Amazonian nature, barely features Wonder Woman (and go ahead and watch Linkara’s video on that too) and has barely written anything at all since 2008. OK… those are not good signs, let’s dig into the first 4 issues of Teen Titans and see if it’s any good.
