So let's take a look at Heavy is the Hand, and see if the high standard continues
So, the two
people that didn't get the focus in that last episode (that survived) get the
focus here. We get Mack, a new scientist in the field trying to help Fitz. With
everyone else used to Fitz as he was, it is nice to see Mack try and make
friends with Fitz as he is.
We also have
our lovable rogue of the season, and the only mercenary still alive by the
episode's end, Hunter. I quite enjoyed watching him switch side repeatedly in
order to get what he wanted. It was nice that he wanted to see his friend get a
proper burial. We also hear a bit about his back story and it was reasonably interesting, if one of less memorable moments of the episode
We also see
a lot more development in Coulson. We see him do something in the field,
continue the drawings he was drawing at the end of last season. Almost surrender
himself to Talbot, and be kind enough to provide the proper burial for Izzy that
he found out was asked of Talbot (although he couldn't provide the $2m). We also see how that he has confided pretty much everything in May, hopefully this won't come back to bite him later on (I'm not saying May will turn out to be HYDRA or anything, but...)
In the plot
side, we see the absorbing man attempt to get the device to HYDRA, but is
interrupted not only by the fact that the device is slowly killing him, but
also by Raina: the girl in the flower dress from the previous season, who's working
with Skye's father. It's interesting that HYDRA managed to find a way to control that effect, not even sure how really.
It looks
like the season has 4 main factions. We have S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA, we also have
Talbot's men and Skye's father, hopefully the season will develop all of these 4
factions before the inevitable conflict between them
Rating
8.5/10
2 weeks on Friday we will have another S.H.I.E.L.D. review (hopefully) that will cover episodes 3-5
