Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ghost Rider Episode 6 - The Good Samaritan

The Good Samaritan

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. tries to refocus its efforts at this point towards the Ghost threat, where Ghost Rider is the most effective, whilst also announcing a 3-week hiatus. Thank you, Marvel/ABC you’ve completely screwed up my schedule, and this review is coming a week early.

Anyway, so Mace makes his move to counteract both times he was blackmailed (he was blackmailed twice in one episode, that’s truly stunning.) as he sends Simmons off on a top-secret mission somewhere whilst making his move on Coulson’s team in an attempt to uncover the two (you should’ve just dropped the pod) fugitives in Ghost Rider and Quake

So, they bring Gabe aboard because… well, I suppose he had been left alone for a while, it would start to get problematic. But really he needs to be there so he can bare witness to the origin of Ghost Rider and find out the truth about his brother. Maybe now he can be less of a dick to Daisy, or maybe be a dick to his brother instead.

About the origin, it’s not the classic Reyes one from what I understand, I’m not reading the comics, but it’s all-round well told and ties in to current events, especially after learning last week that the attack was a hit, even if it was on the wrong guy. I also have to wonder if they changed it to the devil one just so they can have that line about the angel Gabriel

Also, kind of interesting how Lucy didn’t recognise Robbie at all and thought he was Gabe in person and was confused for his father during the hit. Almost like there are some issues, especially as Robbie is a college dropout with little interest in the academic. I sense drama on the horizon…

But one cool thing about the origin, was that Johnny Blaze who gave Robbie his powers? We have twice the Ghost Rider and double the fun. But that’s an avenue to be explored by a later episode, let’s get to the big reveal of this one.

So… turns out Eli’s not the man we thought he was, he was an asshole the entire time and the person responsible for Lucy and co.’s ghostly forms. And there was something about Zero matter for a reference to Peggy Carter and I wish there was a season 3 of that coming out. Eli now has super-powers and Coulson, Fitz, Mack and Robbie are all missing, we’ve got a lot to look forward to when the show returns.

Rating 8.5/10
